The Challenge

Envision Xpress faced a significant hurdle in the fast-evolving digital landscape: their aging, custom-built ecommerce platform was ill-suited for their growing BVI workforce. This technological shortfall was a big barrier, limiting the involvement and empowerment of their BVI employees in ecommerce activities.

The need for a more dynamic, accessible platform was evident, not just for enhanced customer service but also for the vital integration of their BVI staff into more diverse roles.

  • Justin Morgan, Ecommerce ManagerMoJo Active’s solution architect knew what we wanted and how to integrate. Our IT company said, “I don’t think you can stump these guys.”

The Solution

Enter BigCommerce – chosen for its flexibility and user-friendly design. MoJo Active, with expertise in large-scale ecommerce projects, took the helm of this transformative journey. The final solution was multifaceted:

  1. Replatforming with Purpose: The shift to BigCommerce was designed to foster an accessible, inclusive environment for the BVI workforce.
  2. Tailored for Accessibility: The platform was meticulously adapted to meet the needs of BVI employees, ensuring compatibility with assistive technologies like JAWS.
  3. Empowerment through Technology: Beyond functional adaptation, one of the primary areas of focus was enabling BVI staff to excel in ecommerce roles, equipping them with the necessary tools and training.

  • Rich Moon, Senior Director of Retail OperationsYear over year, the project has delivered over and above my expectations, and there’s a lot more growth to be had in this space. We wouldn’t have gotten there without MoJo Active’s understanding of the requirements, particularly for the BVI community.

The Movement

The success of Envision Xpress’s digital transformation was immediately clear, enabling them to create more employment opportunities for the BVI community. But the business impact of MoJo Active’s work went beyond accessibility. Shortly after launch Envision Xpress celebrated its most successful quarter ever, with YOY growth just under 15%.

The new site also paved the way for Envision Xpress to venture into the B2C market, expanding their audience and product range to serve the needs of consumers and government customers alike.

At the end of the day, the success of this project was further proof that enhancing accessibility on both the front- and back-end improves the overall user experience for customers and employees alike.
